WILLA FINCK, a college senior at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, has played the violin since the age of two when she began taking lessons with Miss Nan Stricklen. Other teachers have included Dr. Jacob Dakon, Dr. Nancy Bargerstock of Appalachian State University, and Sarah Johnson and Ida Bieler of University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She currently studies with Mikhail Kopelman. In 2016 Willa won the Eastman School of Music Violin Concerto Competition. She also won an audition with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2014 she won first place in the Kathleen Price and Joseph M. Bryant- North Carolina Symphony Young Artists Competition and the Asheville Symphony Young Artists Competition leading to solo engagements with the NC Symphony and the Asheville symphony.
In the summer of 2014 Willa toured the country as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. She is currently concertmaster of the Eastman Philharmonic Orchestra and a part-time section violinist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She plays a violin made by her father, David Finck
